  • We arrived pretty late (after having made a reservation) on a quiet evening and were offered a free upgrade from tent to cabin. The owners were really nice. The cabin was very rustic, which added charm to the stay. The whole place is very rustic and woodsy, which is beautiful, especially when you arrive after dark and you feel like you're in the middle of an enchanted forest. We had no loud neighbours and otherwise had a pleasant stay. However, we quickly realized the water wasn't working in the shower house. We didn't want to bother the owners late that evening so we waited till the next morning at around 9:30, and when we rang their doorbell and they opened, 2 large threatening dogs came out and started barking and jumping around us, hitting us multiple times and for many minutes. When the dog storm finally calmed down and we told them that we just wanted to be able to use the shower, someone went over the check the pump (but only after around 5 min), and they offered to refill our water bottles. They told us they usually shut off the water pump when there's no one there. However, we made a reservation, and they knew we were coming. Otherwise, a lovely place, it's a shame they don't advertise (or maybe it's a good thing to keep the secret), a refreshing change from the average campgrounds, and the owners are actually really nice, like I said. I just wish they were able to control their quasi-wolves a bit more!

  • It's spacious and peaceful. I've been going for almost 8 years now. Beer and a campfire. Can't beat it.

  • Whispering Pines Campground has always been a great spot for my family to come and visit and camp. We often came during various summer festivals and camped overnight several days. Beautiful to see the starry sky and get away from the light pollution of the city. The pond has always been a favourite spot for my kids (who've been coming for over a decade to this same place). Lots of little tadpoles and frogs in the springtime and early summer. In the fall, the trees shed their leaves and it becomes a carpet of colour as you walk through the endless trails. So much to explore here! Adventurous kids will love it! Many hidden gems. Each campsite has a place where a small cooking fire can be built, and during larger festivals, the owners will often make a large more central bonfire near the stage where hand drummers (djembe) and other instruments are played and enjoyed, and can dance. A humbling, spiritual experience for many who come to visit. Near the entrance, there is a fairy tea garden which is open during the festivals for tea and scones. A nice addition. The gazebo has been frequented by many artists showcasing their gallery pieces also. At non-festival times, we would come during the day to read books by the quiet beach and enjoy a picnic. Quiet, non-crowded, simple and rustic. Whispering Pines is the canvas and you're the painter. A great space to reconnect with nature and get away from electronics and the hustle and bustle. The owners are very kind, and yes they do have a few large and friendly great dane dogs that are exuberant, but have never shown me anything but kindness. All and all this is one of my favourite places to come camping with the family and have made many memorable memories here. Thank you to the Garde family.
